Tamera Burton Murdock

Tamera Murdock is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City where she has been a faculty member since completing her doctorate in Educational Psychology from the University of Delaware in 1994. Dr. Murdock’s research focuses on macro and micro contextual factors that influence students’ motivation and school behavior and the application of hierarchical modeling to understanding these issues. Her most recent work motivational and classroom influences on academic cheating has been supported by the Spencer Foundation and appeared in the Journal of Educational Psychology, Contemporary Educational Psychology, and Educational Psychologist. She serves or has served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Educational Psychology, Child Development, Educational Psychology Review and the Journal of Educational Research and is currently an executive editor of the Journal of Experimental Education and the recently published encyclopedia, Psychology of Classroom Learning. Dr. Murdock teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in quantitative methods and is a statistical consultant for numerous projects including the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Educational Research Consortium at the Institute for Social Capital in Charlotte, North Carolina.
